Easter, Spring, SUN!

Happy Easter !!!

I love Easter. I know it's supposed to be a day to spend at Church and with the family, but I honestly couldn't tell you when the last time I did either was. Both this year and last I spent Easter day with my roommate (this year here in SLO, last year back in the bay), but we've had a great time! We've been fortunate enough to have enough sun on both years to lay out and get a decent tan sunburn [that turns into a tan!], while enjoying oodles of food. My roommate, who is Catholic, gave up bagels last year and breadsticks this year for Lent, so Easter morning consists of her gorging on her formally forbidden food! We made an amazing breakfast this morning, complete with waffles, blueberry muffins, mimosas, and strawberries mmmm (jealous? you should be!)

Week 3 starts this week, and my schedule is SO much more relaxed this quarter. Although I desperately need a second job that will give me a bigger paycheck and money for the summer! (On campus eateries aren't really open over the summer here).

Mini rave for the moment: SHAPE MAGAZINE! I am absolutely addicted. Their workouts, beauty tips, etc are so inspiring and I read every word that is included in the issue. If you don't have a subscription already and are interested in fitness magazines, I highly highly suggest that you go out and get one! (Plus that's like 5 times cheaper than buying even two issues!)

k that's enough of that, I'm going to go watch Friends (TOW Rosita Dies) and eat some popcorn =D

xoxo

Dead Week, The BookLuver & The Elite!

So it's Dead Week over here at Cal Poly. Which for about 90% of the student population means nothing different as we have some amazing professors who love giving exams and making presentations due during this week instead of reviewing what we're learned in the last ten weeks. However, I am one of the lucky 10% that does not have any midterms! Yes, I do have a report due in a lab and a final in another lab - but that is always expected as our lab times are not assigned final times during Finals Week.

Taking a break from finals... head over and read Jennifer Banash's blogpost about her journey during her 20's and her Elite novel series. I think you'll really enjoy it! ALSO! Check out the amazing contest that Carol has going on over at BookLuver!

Cloudings of the Brain

I realized a few days ago that I don't post as often as I'd like - but then when I sat down and starting thinking about what I could write about, I came up with nothing, because my life is boring when I'm in school!

My Mondays through Friday consist of me waking up at 6am, going to the gym, going to class and/or work, coming home and eating and then getting through as much homework as I can before I pass out at 11:30. Tuesdays and Thursdays are a little less hectic because I don't have class on those days, and that's when I get most of my homework done - but Mondays and Wednesdays are a mad show, espcially because I don't get home until 7:45 and then Mondays at 8 the girls come over to watch Gossip Girl!

Now some people may say I am crazy for getting up at 6 just to go to the gym. But if you have ever been to our college's gym you would realize why I do so. If you go after 8:30 it is impossible to get a machine without having to wait for it! Plus, the time on the stationary bike gives me a good 25 minutes to read the latest book!

Well that's the excitement of my life. I won't fill you in with the details of my weekend social life, too crazy too handle ;-)

Until next time...

Resolution Time!

I noticed in the past few weeks that I really am not a patient person at all. Whether it's my OCD kicking in and getting upset after the dishes have been sitting in the sink for 5 minutes, or at drivers going too slow in front of me, I get upset very easily! So my main resolution is to be much much more patient. I figure a lot of people including myself will benefit from this so I hope everyone appreciates it!
Second resolution: Handle my finances! I'm very budget concious, but I really need to plan ahead and set aside a portion of my paycheck into a savings account and decide how much to leave for personal expenses. First item to buy: A new phone!!!! (My Palm Treo from 2005 is just not cutting it since it won't let me call anyone half the time!) I also need to majorly update my wardrobe. I recently went from being a blonde to a brunette (=0) and need more colors that compliment my hair!

Plans for this wonderful New Years Day: Watching Pearl Harbor with the roommate, her boyfriend and the New Years Kiss =). Annnd teaching said roommate how to knit! I went crazy the past two weeks and made a bunch of scarves for friends and myself as gifts and now want to be able to share the wealth! It'll also give me a chance to practice my patience skills haha

Share your resolutions!!

Something to Think About

Every time I'm back in my hometown, where there is absolutely nothing to do unless you feel like spending a lot of money, I go to Amazon.com and my library's website and pretty much put every book (that I can) from my wishlist on hold. "What Happens Here" by Tara Altebrando had been on my wishlist since the beginning of summer, and I just couldn't bring myself to read it because the cover didn't look to enticing to me. But yesterday I began reading it at 11:30 pm and didn't stop until 2:15 am when I was finished. I never expected it to be so good!

"What Happens Here" will honestly make you re-evaluate any close friendship you have and really appreciate those who are in your life, and to not take anything for granted. I don't know what I was expecting when I began reading it, but when I was finished I just wanted to tell everyone to go read it! With the theme of this book, as well as recent losses in my circle of friends and family, it's made me realize that I really need to have a better outlook on life and not just sit around, waiting for something exciting to happen.

Look for more on Thursday, New Years Resolution time!

Happy New Years Everyone! Hope you have a great celebration - and be safe!

My First Blog

Now I know that Myspace was created initially so everyone could share their blogs, pictures, interests etc. But I have enjoyed reading people's blogs here on Blogspot so much that I decided to get one of my own! I'm not really sure what I'll be writing about, maybe just my every day activities and such.

Here's what's going on in my life right now:

-On break from Cal Poly and cannot WAIT to get back for New Years Eve!
-Just finished the combined writings of Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle & John Green in "Let it Snow." Such cute three stories - would recommend it for a good "curl up by the fire" book
-Spending my days watching movies (Harry Potter & Lifetime!) and knitting scarves for my friends

It's amazing how during the schoolyear, all I want is a week long break to do absolutely nothing. Do you have any idea how boring doing NOTHING is?! Neither did I until I experienced it for the last week. Luckily more of my friends are starting to return home from school so I've been hanging out with them

On tap for tonight: I'm making my best friend Parmesan - Baked Salmon, roasted red potatoes, and lemon pepper asparagus. Dessert = homemade lemon poppyseed muffins. mmm

Who wants to guess what my major is?!

Until later....
